About us

Rooted in Science. Driven by Heart.

Teachable Moments of NJ was founded on a simple belief: every family deserves compassionate, evidence-based support — delivered in a way that actually fits their life.

Founder of Teachable Moments of NJ

Jeanine M. Potenza

Founder

With over two decades of experience supporting children and families across New Jersey, we have  worked in homes, schools, and clinical settings — and I've seen firsthand how the right support at the right time can change everything.

I founded Teachable Moments of NJ because I wanted to offer something different: behavior support that empowers parents, not just manages behavior. My approach is grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), but it's always delivered with warmth, flexibility, and deep respect for each family's unique situation. I have built a team of behavior support team, that each carries its own roots in ABA, whether its Behavior Disorders, Mental Health or Autism each of us carries an important element to the team.

Whether we're working through tantrums, transitions, or school challenges, our  goal is always the same — to help you feel confident, equipped, and less alone.

The Philosophy Behind the Practice

Behavior is communication. When a child struggles, they're telling us something — and our job is to listen, understand, and respond in a way that builds skills for life.

Evidence-Based Methods

Every strategy I use is grounded in the science of Applied Behavior Analysis — proven, measurable, and tailored to your child.

Family-Centered Support

You are the expert on your child. I'm here to partner with you, not prescribe to you. Real change happens when families feel supported and informed.

Compassion Without Judgment

Parenting is hard. I meet every family exactly where they are — with patience, empathy, and zero judgment.

Practical, Real-World Strategies

Strategies that only work in a clinic don't help at home. Everything I recommend is designed to fit into your actual daily life.
